Registrations open for UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2020
The UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019 is designed by the team UNESCO to uplift the education sector and empower people through knowledge. The government of Japan started this scholarship scheme in the year 2001, since the past years approx 200 fellowships were distributed to the young meritorious researchers. The pure agenda to promote this fellowship program is to build a knowledgeable environment so people can use their credibility in research activities.
Every year the government of Japan offers scholarship amount to the 10 most deserving and talented candidates from all around the globe. Applicants who want to complete their research studies in Japan will get special attention. Also, female candidates from Africa, SIDS (Small Island Developing States) and LDCs (Least Developed Countries) who wish to undertake research on one or more topic will also get a preference for this scholarship. The application window for UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019 was closed on 29th November 2019, while shortlisted candidates will receive a Letter of Award by 15th May 2020.

UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019 persuades with an aim to support imaginative and innovative postgraduate students who find to do research in four areas of development in UNESCO. Under the program, only 10 brilliant students will select and each country will only nominate its 2 fellows for the scheme. The key objective of the program is to help students and motivate them to access their knowledge in 4 areas of improvement of explicit curiosity under UNESCO’s Priority Program Areas.
About the Scholarship:
UNESCO invites eligible candidates for the UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019. The shortlisted candidates will get a chance to pursue a postgraduate research program in the following areas of their choice:
· Intercultural Dialogue
· Peaceful Conflict Resolution
· Environment, with particular emphasis on disaster risk reduction (DRR)
· Information and Communication Technologies
Interested candidates need to send a proposal to the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO through an email.
Highlights of the Scholarship Scheme:
1. Strengthening and upgrading the knowledge of UNESCO’s research activities.
2. Build the emotion of peace and friendship between all the nations.
3. Only 2 candidates will nominate for the fellowship program.
4. A female candidate belongs to Africa, SIDS (Small Island Developing States) and LDCs (Least Developed Countries) who want to pursue a research program in Japan will get special preference.
5. The closing date of the application process was 29th November 2019.
Duration of the Scholarship:
The scholarship scheme will be commencing for students in the month of June 2020 onwards. As per the officials, the last date to terminate the research program will end week of February 2021.
Duration of the proposed research as follows:
· Minimum duration: 3 months
· Maximum duration: 9 months

The selected applicants will be administered by UNESCO and financed by Japan. The award will consist of the following benefits:

Eligibility Criteria:
Nationality: Applications are invited from all over the world.
Educational Qualifications: For this fellowship, scheme candidate should be a postgraduate researcher and must hold a master degree in M.A. or M.Sc. degree (or equivalent).
Applicant must possess a high intellectual promise and offer significant contributions to their country on return.
Age Limit: An applicant should not more than the age of 40 years.
Students who were born before 1 January 1978 will not be entertained under this fellowship program.
Additional background: Must be proficient in reading and writing of the proposed country language.
Already has confirmed his/her acceptance from host institution of research.

A copy of last degree or diploma certified by the institution.
Recent size photographs.
Filled application form of UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019
Letter of acceptance from the host institute of research studies.
A letter of recommendations.
Certificate of language proficiency issued by an official authority.
A detailed description of research proposal either in English or French, consist all the details about the research program.
Selection Criteria:
A well-planned research proposal which completely demonstrate imagination, innovation, relevance and true facts are considered for the UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers' Fellowship Program 2019. The entries will be judged on the basis of merit. Top 10 selected candidates will receive a Letter of Award.

Rules and Regulations:
- Students can enrol for the scholarship program once in a lifetime.
- Each Member State may select only 2 candidates of their respective country.
The National Commission may choose the applicants who they wish to nominate.
