Registration opens for the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2019, Apply before 31st December 2018

The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is an annual fest started by the Pramerica foundation. Since 2010 in India, the competition runs with a motive to find the best student of class 6th to 12th from nationwide. The program provides the talent hunt for those students who made a positive difference in their locality through volunteer community services. Besides India, the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is also organized in South Korea, Japan, Poland, Taiwan, China, Brazil, and Ireland.

More than 30,000 applicants have participated in the competition for the past 8 years and approx 700 scholars have been awarded under the scholarship program. Once again students are invited for the Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2019, and this time they can either enrol themselves as an individual or in a group.

The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards 2019 is a first step for the upcoming talented school students, who have a desire to build their identity on the national platform.  Applicants can enrol themselves for the scholarship scheme on or before the deadline i.e. 31 December 2018. Read the entire article to know its application process, eligibility of the fellowship program and other important details.

Highlights of the Scholarship Scheme:

  • Only top 16 shortlisted candidates will be awarded variable scholarship rewards.
  • Students of class 6th to 12th are eligible to apply.
  • An applicant can participate in a group or as an individual.
  • The last date to apply for the program is 31 December 2018.

Scholarship Amount:

The scholarship amount will be divided into two categories:

  • Individual category
  • Group category

For Individual Category Students

Only 46 candidates will be shortlisted for formal acknowledgement.

  • Out of 46 shortlisted candidates, only top 16 (8 each from Individual and Group category) will be awarded Silver Medallions and Certificates of Achievement.
  • These top 16 will also get a chance to attend the gala felicitation event in Delhi along with their parents.
  • 30 runner-ups (15 each from Individual and Group category) will receive Bronze Medallions and Certificates of Merit.
  • Top 2 students will be considered as the National winners and get a chance to go for a trip to Washington, D.C. in May 2019.
  • Both National winners will be awarded Gold Medallions, Certificates of Excellence and cash prize worth of ₹ 50,000 each.

 

For Group Category Students

Only 10 groups will be shortlisted for formal acknowledgement.

  • Out of 10 shortlisted groups, only top 3 teams will be awarded Silver Medallions and Certificates of Achievement.
  • These top 3 teams will also get a chance to attend the gala felicitation event in Delhi along with their parents.
  • 7 runner-ups groups will be presented Bronze Medallions and Certificates of Merit.
  • Students of the winning team will be awarded Gold Medallions, Certificate of Excellence and cash prize worth of ₹ 50,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. An applicant must be a studying student of Class 6th to 12th, who has been occupied in a volunteer activity at least during the registration period.
  2. Both individuals and groups are invited for the scholarship scheme.
  3. The maximum number of entrants in a group is 5.
  4. The candidate must have to describe their social service activity and should be certified by either the parents or school principal.
  5. If in case of NGO entry, the entry must be authorized by the NGO project coordinator.
  6. The fellowship program is also available for international students who live and study in India.

Important Note: Employees of DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance or any other firm involved in the scholarship scheme and their family members are not eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure:

  • The jury will decide the scholars on the basis of the application form, and an interview round.
  • All the entrants either its individual or groups will be ranked on a total of 100 points.
  • The interview round will be conducted in the heart of India.

The panel will give their judgment on the basis of following parameters: Inspiration, Effort, Impact & Commitment of the work, and Personal Growth of the candidate.  

Rules and Regulations:

  1. An applicant must be a resident of India and should hold a valid passport by the government of India.
  2. No participant has a right to send another person on behalf of his /her entry.
  3. The decision of the committee will be considered as final.
  4. In a group, only 5 members will be allowed to represent their work as a team.
  5. Applicants who are worked with NGOs have to submit the application form endorsed by the NGO Project Coordinator.
