Important Dates

Eligibility

• The applicant must be an Indian national.
• Ph.D. degree in appropriate discipline with an overall good academic record.

Benefits

Selected candidates will get the following benefits:

Fellowship Grant

A fellowship amount of ₹ 50,000 per month consolidated pay will be paid.

Medical/ Insurance Benefit

Medical/ Insurance benefits will be provided as per the institute’s norms for the students.

Contingency Grant

A contingency grant of ₹ 30,000 per annum will be paid for contingency, research consumables, and attending National or International Workshop/ Conference.

Leave

Leave for up to 15 days per semester. Other leave can be availed as per the institute’s norms.

Other Benefits

Suitable on-campus accommodation will be provided (if available) as per the institute's norms. No house rent allowance will be paid.

Application Process

Applications for the Post-Doctoral Fellowship are to be submitted through offline mode in person or by post to NIT Durgapur. The applications must reach the institute within 12th February 2021. Here are the steps for filling the application form.

1. Visit the official NIT Durgapur website and go to the ‘Careers@NITD’ page.
2. Click on the ‘Advertisement for the post of the Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship’.
3. Read the instructions and download the application form.
4. Take a print of the application form.
5. Make the payment of the application fee through NEFT/ IMPS.
6. Fill in the application form and send it to the institute.

The application form must be enclosed in an envelope which should be super-scribed as ‘Application for Post-Doctoral Fellowship’ and posted to:

Selection Process

Applications will be shortlisted based on the merit and requirement in certain areas in the listed disciplines. Shortlisted candidates are required to give a presentation and Interview in person. Those from outside India can give their presentation and Interview through Video Conferencing.

Responsibilities of Post-Doctoral Fellows

As per the official notice; “Apart from the research pursued by the PDF, services of the postdoctoral Fellow will be utilized by the concerned Department/Centre up to 8 hours per week for academic assistance in the departmental work including teaching assistantship, handling of tutorials and laboratory work. The PDFs will be eligible to serve as co-guide for B.Tech./M.Sc./M.Tech. projects along with the mentor with the approval of the concerned DAC and Dean (academic).”
