National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities (NFPwD) 2020-21 – Registration Begins, Check Your Eligibility
The National Fellowship programme for the PwD (Person with Disabilities) has been launched by the University Grants Commissions under the authority of the Government of India. It is a central government scheme which was launched with the name ‘National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities (NFPwD)’. This programme aims to provide equal opportunities to the specially-abled children and helps them pursue higher education like M. Phil or Ph. D.
UGC NFPwD 2020-21 Latest Updates –
University Grants Commission, the higher education regulator, has sought online applications for NFPwD for the selection year 2020-21. Interested and eligible Indian aspirants under the “persons with disabilities” category can complete the registration process by visiting the official UGC website. The last date to apply for the same is 15th February. To avail the fellowship, candidates must submit the required documents.

National Fellowship for Person with Disabilities (NFPwD) Benefits
The benefits of NFPwD are provided under both Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) schemes. The Amounts provided under the scheme are given in the table below.

Duration of the scheme:
- The scholarship is available for 5 years for PhD + MPhil candidates, while for MPhil it is only for 2 years.
- The candidates will receive the scholarship benefit as the JRF (Junior Research Fellow) for 2 years.
- The benefits of the fellowship can be availed from the date of joining the research.
- Selected students cannot avail of any other similar benefit either from the Central/ State government or any other educational bodies like UGC.
Eligibility Requirement for National Fellowship for Person with Disabilities
- Students belonging to Indian states can apply.
- An applicant must be belonging to the disability category defined by the Government of India.
- He/she should have should have pursue M. Phil or the Ph. D by finishing all the necessary formalities required for the admission.
NFPwD Online Registration Process 2020-21
The online registration for NFPwD 2020-21 has already begun. Click here to go to the official link. Candidates have to follow 4 steps to submit the form –
- Step – 1: Fill in Personal Information including disability and caste certificate. Upon completion of Step 1, you will receive a registration ID. This will help in generating a PDF file once the application submission procedure is over.
- Step – 2: At this stage, you will need to enter your Research Work. The Research Information includes department, subject, research topic, etc.
- Step – 3: You will enter Other Information such as Present employment or Scholarships, etc.
- Step – 4: Declaration and Final Submission.
Documents Required for NFPwD
Make sure you have the following documents ready before visiting the official web portal.
- Scanned copy of disability certificate
- Domicile certificate
- Scanned copy of Master Degree Marksheet
- Scanned copy of recent colour photograph and signature of the candidates
- Caste certificate issued by SDM or Tehsildar or any competent authority
- Declaration certificate from HoD or competent authority of the university or institute
