UGC Launches NACWC Young Professional Chemistry Internship 2019 for Young Students

The University Grants Commission has released a notification on 16th April 2019, stated that the National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) has started an Internship Program for the students and young professionals in the subject of Chemical Safety and Security. Those apprentices who qualify the minimum eligibility criteria will be allowed to submit their entries before the deadline i.e. 5th August 2019.  

Through this program, NACWC intends to offer a short-term disclosure to all the qualified candidates on how they can prevent the misuse of toxic chemicals.  More than this, the committee proposes to train and prepare youngsters to serve their best for the National Authority and Chemical Industry. NACWC Young Professional Chemistry Internship 2019 entices young students and professionals from the universities or colleges and acquires knowledge in the industry of Chemical Safety and Security. Benefits & Rewards -

  • A full-time PG/UG Degree intern will get a monthly stipend of ₹ 10,000 (Ten Thousand Only) upon their satisfactory performance, duly certified by their respective supervisor.
  • The young professional shortlisted intern in the industry of safety and security will receive a monthly stipend of ₹ 25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand Only) upon their satisfactory performance.
  • No internship amount shall be paid, if the fellow contestant leaves the internship before the completion of the program.

Objectives of NACWC Young Professional Chemistry Internship 2019

The National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC) has begun the fellowship scheme named as NACWC Young Professional Chemistry Internship 2019 for the meritorious students of the country. Now the biggest question, what was the reason to launch this program? According to the reports, NACWC is the only platform to India that obligates the Chemical Weapons Convention and prohibits the production and usage of chemical weapons.  Here are the objectives of the program which the organizers want to share-

Eligibility Norms of Young Professional Chemistry Internship 2019

The comprehensive structure of eligibility norm of the scheme is as follows:

  • Nationality - The fellowship allows all the meritorious candidates of the country.
  • Academic Background - There shall be two fellowship schemes to be undertaken by the Authority as under:
    • For the pursuing apprentices of a full-time undergraduate degree in the subject of Chemical Engineering/ Technology from any Indian recognized university. Students who are in the 3rd year of their B.Tech in Chemical Engineering/ Technology are also eligible to apply.
    • For working professionals in the field of Chemical safety and security or with the Indian Chemical Council, engaged with the implementation of CWC can apply.

NACWC Young Professional Internship 2019 - Guidelines for Students

For a full-time UG Degree Students in Chemical Engineering/ Technology -

  1. Apprentices will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in class 12th Board Exams and in the academic year of college.
    1. Marks obtained in Class 12th: 30% weightage
    2. CGPA / % of Aggregate Marks till 5th semester: 70% weightage
  2. He/ She must have to produce a letter from their respective Supervisor/ Head of Department/ Principal indicating the status of “No Objection” for allowing the student to undergo internship programme for the period for which he/she is selected.
  3. The duration of the scheme is 2 months in which 3 apprentices will receive a chance to get trained within the premise of National Authority/ Chemical Industry.
  4. The qualifying interns are advised to contact their respective designated Supervisor of the Authority and understand the work ethics in the organization.
  5. Applicants need to submit a thesis on the topics allotted by the National Authority in consultation with their respective Supervisor.

For Young Professionals Working In the Field of Safety and Security-

  1. Apprentices who acquiring Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering/ Technology or PG Degree in Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry from an eminent Indian recognized university or institution.
  2. Students will be shortlisted on the basis of their merit scores.
    1. Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering/ Technology or Post-Graduation in Industrial Chemistry/ Chemistry - 30% weightage
    2. Working experience in the relevant field - 70% weightage
  3. Must have five years of experience in the industry of Chemical Safety & Security/ Chemical Weapons Convention/ Management of Toxic Chemicals.
  4. The maximum duration of the program is 3 months in which 3 vacancies are available for the meritorious candidates of India.

NACWC Young Professional Internship - Process of Application

Enthusiast participants need to send their entries simply by emailing at [email protected]. The prescribed format of the application form is presented on the official website of NACWC. Undergraduate students need to submit their application form in the prescribed format mentioning at Annexure I. However, for the application of Young Professionals students need to fill the prescribed format of Annexure II.

  • Now, click on the NACWC tab and select internship.
  • After this, hit the ‘Internship Scheme for Students and Young Professionals’ and download the pdf.
  • Read all the guidelines, eligibility norms, internship cycle, and other details carefully.
  • After that, fill the Annexure I (for UG Students) and Annexure II (for Young Professionals) in the prescribed format.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Interns shall make their own boarding and lodging arrangements.
  2. Apprentices will get all the necessary logistic in the form of working space with facilities as found necessary by the authority.
  3. Shortlisted interns need to arrange their own laptop for the program.
  4. After the selection of the fellows, the National Authority will send the offer letter of internship directly to the selected candidate.
  5. The interns shall not have any claim for a job at the premise of National Authority or in any other government unit.
  6. The organizers have the right to terminate the internship of the candidate if they found any sort of unsatisfactory performance.
  7. The qualifiers of the program will be required to submit original copies of certificates and mark sheets along with the self-attested one.
