AAUW International Fellowship Program 2018 is introduced by the American Association of University Women in the year 1971. This non-profit organization is a medium to persuade the message of women empowerment across the world. The scholarship runs with a motive to highlight the merits of women and what are their contributions to our society. Under this fellowship program, more than 3,600 women scholars have been awarded from more than 150 nations.

The organization emphasizes the role of the female candidates through advocacy, education, and research. Every year the American Association of University Women (AAUW) encourages female students to pursue their dream education with AAUW International Fellowship Program. Again this year the organization opens their doors and offers an opportunity to the meritorious candidates who want to pursue higher studies in the country like the United States. The AAUW International Fellowship Program 2018 has an objective to motivate and stimulate women as an individual and offer a helping hand to support their dream through financial support provided by the AAUW organization. Under this scholarship scheme, the institution offers a Master’s / First Professional Degree, Postdoctoral and Doctoral level courses for the young budding talented female students. The major agenda of the Institution is to help these emerging students by providing them much-needed financial assistance and make them capable to showcase their knowledge to the world.  

About the Scholarship:

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) starts this fellowship program to support women candidates who are unable to complete their studies due to some reasons and provide them a platform to expand their wings to fly. Desirable female candidates who want to pursue her full-time Doctoral/ PhD or Postdoctoral education in the United States here is your chance to prove your worthiness. For the fellowship, program preferences will be given for those applicants who show prior commitments for the development of feminists through professional work. The scholarship aims to develop the skills of the recipients and give them the vision to become a leader in the field of Government, Academia, Community Activism, Business, Arts and Sciences. Winners will be awarded a prize money worth of USD 18,000 for Master’s level, USD 20,000 for Doctoral, and USD 30,000 for Postdoctoral courses.

  • Students are invited from all over the world.
  • As per the officials, approximately 3400 scholarships will be distributed in the previous years.

  • Up to 5 scholarships are available for the master degree program.

The scholarship funds are only available for:

  1. Living expenses
  2. Educational expenses
  3. Travel to professional conferences, meetings or seminars as long as it does not exceed 10 percent of the scholarship
  4. Dependent child care

Eligibility Criteria:

Nationality & Background-

  • Only female candidates are allowed to apply for the fellowship.
  • An applicant must have an educational degree equivalent to a U.S.A bachelor’s degree and must be completed by November 15, 2018.
  • Have a nationality of a country other than the United States of America.
  • Have a purpose to come again to her home country after the completion of the course.
  • Set an agenda to pursue a professional career.
  • Intend to work with full dedication during the whole fellowship year.

Other Educational Details-

  • The applicant must be a native speaker of the English language.
  • Should have completed her UG degree or secondary diploma in an English speaking college or institute.
  • Applicant needs to upload a recent ETS TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), Score Card.
  • Minimum 550 scores for Paper-based test, 79 for the Internet-based test, and 60 for Revised TOEFL paper-delivered test.
  • Master courses included under the scholarship are M. Arch., J.D., L.L.M., M.F.A., or medical degrees such as D.D.S., M.D., etc.
  • Preferences will be given only to the female candidates who show their prior commitment to the advancement of females through the community, civic, and professional work.

Note: The scholarship is not available for the previous recipients of AAUW fellowship. Also, members of the AAUW organization are not eligible to apply.

Follow the guidelines

Understand the power of proofreading

Proposals that contain numerous mistakes and have an unclear message are considered as incomplete proposals. Also, these types of proposals poorly reflect the decision of the authority, so it is advisable to proofread your content before submission.

Proposals that follows the policy of clarity and synoptic in nature are more convincing than others.

Selection Procedure:

The selection process will be made on the basis of the following criteria-

  • Academic qualifications
  • Candidates commitment to the advancement of the female category in her home country
  • Proposed time scheduled
  • Quality of proposed research plan
  • Demonstrated evidence of a prior community in the home country
  • Applicant’s country’s need for specialized knowledge
  • Financial need
  • A motivation for graduate study or research

Rules and Regulations:

  1. The fellowship funds are not available for:  Indirect costs, Purchase of equipment, Research assistants, Publication costs, Previous expenditures, deficits, or repayment of loans, Institutional (overhead) costs, Travel to or from a fellow’s home country, Tuition for dependent’s education, Grants-in-aid for less than a full academic year or travel grants, Travel to or from the fellow’s research location, if abroad (does not apply to fellows who are GWI members with AAUW approval to study or research in a country other than their own).
  2. The income of the fellowship is made payable to scholars only, not to institutions.
  3. The selected fellows need to work up to 15 hours a week with the prior written approval of the AAUW Organization.
