SBI, a multinational, public sector banking and financial services organisation, conducts various exams throughout the year to recruit eligible candidates for its branches across India. SBI PO is a national-level exam held to hire Indian nationals for appointment as Probationary Officer in the State Bank of India.
The State Bank of India Probationary Officer (SBI PO) exam 2022 will be completed in a three-tiered process – Phase I, Phase II and Phase III. SBI PO 2022 Exam Pattern
The Authority filters out the right candidates through a 3-tiered process. They are – Phase I (Preliminary Examination), Phase II (Main Examination) and Phase III (Group Exercises & Interview). All three phases have broadly been described below.
Phase-I (Preliminary Examination)
The online preliminary exam will be held for 100 marks. There will be 100 objective type questions from 3 sections (English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning).

Negative Marking - 1/4th of the marks awarded to the question will be deducted for the wrong answer.
Phase-II (Main Examination)
The Main exam comprises two sections - An objective test of 200 marks and a descriptive test of 50 marks. The duration of the objective type test is 180 minutes and comprises 4 sections. The descriptive type test will be of 30 minutes duration for 50 marks consisting of two questions. As far as the penalty for the wrong answers is concerned, 1/4th of the marks assigned to a particular question will be subtracted for wrong answers in case of an objective test.

Descriptive Type Test for 50 Marks
The test would be of 30 minutes with 2 questions for 50 marks. The questions will be on Letter Writing and Essay. Candidates are required to type the essay and letter on the computer.
Phase-III (Group Exercises & Interview)
This is the last level where candidates’ Phase II marks would be considered for preparing the final merit list. The marks secured in the Phase I test will not be considered or added. The exam-takers must pass Phase II and III individually to make it to the final selection list. Phase-III will be of a total of 50 marks - Group Exercises (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks).
Final Merit List Preparation
Marks secured out of 250 in the Main Exam are converted to be out of 75 marks. Similarly, marks secured out of 50 marks in the Interview round are converted to be out of 25 marks. Thus, the final merit list is prepared out of 100 marks. Those who come under OBC non-creamy layer category need to produce an OBC certificate.

SBI PO Exam 2022 Eligibility
Nationality –
- The applicants should be residents of India.
Essential Academic Qualifications –
- Must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised Institution or University.
- Must have an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
- Candidates appearing in the final year or the final semester of their graduation are eligible for the exam. Such applicants will be required to produce proof of having passed the test at the time of appearing for the interview.
- Those pursuing an Integrated Dual Degree course will have to give proof of passing IDD.
- If you are studying CA (Chartered Accountant), you too can submit the online certificate.

SBI PO Exam 2022 Application Process
The SBI PO 2021-22 notification will be released in March 2022 and all the interested candidates will be able to apply online tentatively from 1st week of April 2022. Interested candidates who aspire to join SBI as a PO will have to submit the application form online through the official website. The last date to submit the application form tentatively will be the 04th Week of April 2022. Before going ahead with the application process, make sure you have the prerequisites for the application form. Some of them are valid email ID, mobile number, ID proof, scanned images of photograph and signature, etc.
Specification for Photograph and Signature (Scanned Images)
Photograph
- The photograph must be recent, coloured, and passport size.
- The background of the photograph must be light-coloured (preferably white).
- There should be no ‘red-eye’ in the photograph.
- If you wear glasses, there should be no reflections and the eyes must be clearly visible.
- Hats, coats, and dark glasses are not acceptable. However, religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover the face.
- The size of the scanned image should be between 20 KB to 50 KB.
- The dimension of the image must be 200 x 230 pixels.
Signature
- The signature must be done only by the applicant.
- The signature must be done on white paper with a black ink pen.
- The dimension of the scanned image must be 140 x 160 pixels.
- The size of the scanned image should be between 10 KB to 20KB.
Steps to Fill Online SBI PO Application Form
- Visit https://www.sbi.co.in/careers or https://bank.sbi/careers
- Open ‘Online Application Form’ under ‘Current Openings’
- Read the instructions carefully and fill out the form as instructed
- Upon successful registration, the applicants will receive a system-generated registration number and password to complete the process
- While entering the details, ensure the correctness of all the details and particulars
- Upload the scanned copies of the photograph and signature (as per the specifications)
- Remit the application fee amount through the payment gateway. The amount can be paid using a credit card, debit card and internet banking
- Upon successful payment, an e-receipt and form will be generated
- Take a printout of the same for future use
Note: Anyone failing to complete the process in one go can save the data and come back later. “This facility will be available three times only”.

- Go to the website of SBI.
- Click ‘Recruitment of Probationary Officers in State Bank of India’ to expand the section.
- Click the link to download the SBI PO Main exam admit card 2022.
- On the Login page, enter the registration/roll number and password to log in.
- Your e-admit card will display.
- Download it and take a printout for future use.

Documents To Be Carried to the Examination Center
- Admit Card
- One photo identity proof (in original and a photocopy) such as Aadhaar/ Passport/ PAN Card/ Voter’s ID Card/ Driving License/ Identity Card issued by School or college or Gazetted Officer /Bank Passbook with duly attested Photograph. The photocopy of the ID proof must be submitted with the invigilator in the examination hall.
Pre-Exam Training Centres
It is the responsibility of the exam-conducting body to organise the training for the reserved and minority community candidates at certain centres across the country. Those who would undergo the training need to download the admit card from the official website of SBI. Remember, the State Bank of India may delete or add training centres as per its wish. SBI PO Result 2022
Separate results will be announced for the Preliminary, Main phase & Final exam. Candidates who qualify for the Prelims will be eligible for the Main exam and those who qualify for the Main exam will be eligible for the Interview round. After the interview round, the final result will be declared. Here are the details for result dates:

SBI PO Salary
According to last year’s notice, the basic pay of a Probationary Officer (PO) is 27,620/- (with 4 advance increments) on the scale of ₹ 23,700-980/7-30,560-1145/2-32,850-1310/7-42,020 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The official will also be eligible for D.A., H.R.A/ Lease Rental, C.C.A., Medical and other allowances as per the prevailing rules.

SBI PO Selection Process 2022
It is a three-stage exam where candidates have to clear one level to get into the next level. There will be the preliminary test, main test and group exercise & interview.
- Clear the preliminary test to appear in the main exam
- Clear the main exam to appear in the Phase III test
- After the third level exam, the authority will make a merit list based on the scores of Phase II and Phase III tests
- That’s it!
SBI PO Joining and Training
The finally selected candidates are to go through an online course to gain basic knowledge about banking. Candidates are required to complete the course before joining. The selected candidates are required to fill a bond (at the time of joining) of ₹ 2 lakh to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years.
On joining, the candidates are designated as ‘Probationary Officers’ and are on probation of two years. Candidates are assessed from time to time during their probation. Those who qualify for the assessment are confirmed in the Service in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Candidates who score high in the assessment can also be considered directly for the next higher grade i.e. Middle Management Grade Scale-II. If any candidate fails to achieve the minimum standards, his/ her services will be terminated.

Question 1: I’ve completed my Bachelor’s Degree in 2012 in Commerce. Am I eligible to appear in the SBI PO 2022 exam?
A: If you are below 30 years, you are eligible to apply for the exam.
Question 2: There’s a friend of mine from Schedule Caste who is above 30 years. Can’t he apply?
A: In that case, he will enjoy the upper age limit relaxation. But make sure the SC candidate is below 35 years.
Question 3: When can I submit the application form? Will it be available offline?
A: The SBI PO application process is now over. The forms will not be available offline.
Question 4: What is the selection process?
A: It involves three important phases. Phase I is the Preliminary Exam, Phase II is the Main Exam and Phase III is Interview. For more details, refer to the above section.
Question 5: What is the mode of the test?
A: Computer-Based mode
Question 6: Will the reserved and minority category candidates be bestowed some facilities?
A: Yes, of course. There's pre-exam training for such personnel. Such candidates have to fill the form and print the admit card to participate in the training programme.
Question 7: Are there sectional timings in the exam?
Yes, for both the Preliminary and Main phase.
Question 8: Will there be any scribe facility?
Yes, a scribe facility is allowed to a person with a disability of 40% or more, if desired by the candidate. For other norms related to the use of a scribe, candidates must check the official notification.
Question 9: Is there any negative marking in the exam?
Yes, there is a negative marking of 1/4th marks in the objective tests of both the Preliminary and Main phase.
Question 10: Will the descriptive test be offline?
No. The descriptive test will also be conducted online. If any question is left unanswered, no marks will be awarded or deducted for the same.
