ICAI CA 2020: Students can Choose Opt-Out Facility to Skip July Exam

ICAI has decided to offer an Opt-Out option for the students who don’t want to appear for ICAI CA July exam.

15^th June 2020 - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India gave students the option to OPT-OUT from CA July Exams 2020, due to the prevailing of COVID-19 pandemic situation. Those who don’t want to appear for the upcoming ICAI CA exam on 29^th July can use Opt-Out facility to skip their chance. Such candidates can easily carry forward their candidature to next examination i.e. November, 2020 examination cycle. The decision was taken by the authority, stating that ICAI received mixed opinion from students regarding holding of ICAI CA July exams. Some students were in favour to conduct the exam, while some expressed they won’t be able to attend the exam on 29^th July due to the ongoing situation.

ICAI CA 2020 Official Notification

ICAI on Monday issued a statement, which states "ICAI is committed to serve even if one student wishes to appear in examination scheduled from 29 July 2020, still considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation and in the interest of mitigating the anxiety and hardships of students, it has been decided to provide an OPT-OUT option to students."

Students who have already submitted their applications for ICAI CA Foundation,  CA Intermediate and CA Final 2020 exam for May 2020 examination cycle will be allowed to use Opt-Out option and carry forward their application to the next examination i.e. November 2020 examination cycle. However, to apply for the same, the candidate will be required to apply again for the CA November 2020 exam cycle at the relevant time and the application fee will be adjusted.

How to apply for Opt-Out Facility?

Students need to follow the complete procedure to use the option. The complete step-by-step procedure is mentioned down-below:

• Visit the official website of ICAI CA - icaiexam.icai.org.
• Now, click on the relevant link, and submit your details.
• After submitting the declaration, candidature of the student for MAY 2020 Examination Cycle will be cancelled he/she will be shifted to the next Examination Cycle.
• At last, candidates must keep a note that, once the option for “Opt-out” is taken, it will be treated as final and you cannot change it.
