GCET, Goa Common Entrance Test, is a state-level exam conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE Goa) for admission to Engineering and Pharmacy courses offered by the participating colleges. Admission to Architecture courses is made through NATA score, while admission to MBBS, Dental, and other medical courses is made through the NEET UG score. DTE Goa does the seat allotment through the Common Entrance Test Counselling process. GCET Exam 2023 Pattern & Syllabus

The GCET exam is conducted through offline mode where candidates are required to mark their answers in an Objective Response Sheet (ORS). All the questions are Multiple-Choice type with four options. Candidates are required to select the correct response and mark it as their answer. The distribution of questions in different sections of the exam is as under:

Candidates who are interested in B.Pharm. course need not take a Mathematics paper.

Marking Scheme: Each question is 1 mark. There will be no negative marking for wrong or multiple responses.

GCET 2023 Syllabus -

GCET syllabus is based on the current year syllabus of Class XII of the Goa Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education.

Physics: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices, and Communication Systems.

Chemistry: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, p-Block Elements, d and f block elements, Coordination Compounds,  Haloalkanes And Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols And Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones And Carboxylic Acids,  Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life

Mathematics: Relations and Functions, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Algebra, Matrices, Determinants, Calculus, Continuity and Differentiability, Applications of Derivatives, Integrals, Applications of the Integrals, Differential Equations, Vectors, and Three-Dimensional Geometry, Linear Programming, and Probability.

GCET Exam 2023 Eligibility

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria for admission to professional courses through the GCET 2023 exam:

Nationality

Indian nationals, NRIs holding an Indian passport, and OCI/ PIO are eligible to apply for the exam.

Age Limit

There is no age limit (minimum or maximum) for admission to Engineering and Pharmacy courses. For Medical and Allied Health Sciences courses, the minimum age limit is 17 years as of 31st December of the academic year of admission.

Educational Qualification -

For Engineering Course

Candidate should have passed the class XII examination from Goa Board or another recognized board with Physics,  Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects with one of the subjects - Biology/ Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science. The minimum aggregate marks in Mathematics, Physics, and one of the optional subjects should be 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC category candidates.)

For Pharmacy Course

Candidates should have passed class XII or equivalent examination from Goar or any other recognized board with Chemistry and Physics as compulsory subjects with Mathematics or Biology as optional subjects.

GCET Exam 2023 Application Process

The GCET application process is offline, where candidates are required to download the application form from the official website. The application is to be submitted within the given time. Here are the steps for submitting the application form.

Steps for submitting the GCET 2023 Application Form -

Read the instructions provided with the application form carefully before filling it out.

  • Visit the official website - http://dte.goa.gov.in/.
  • Click on the Admissions tab at the top of the home page.
  • Move the mouse over the ‘Application Forms’ option and select the ‘GCET Application Form’ option from the pop-up window.
  • The application form will appear on the screen.
  • Download it and take a print on a good quality A4 size bond paper.
  • Fill the form with personal details, academic details, and correspondence details, select subjects, and enter the center code.
  • Pay the application fee of ₹ 2000/- to the “Directorate of Technical Education” with the given client code in any branch of HDFC Bank in the state of Goa.
  • After successful payment, enter the details of the bank pay-in-slip in the application form.
  • Complete other details in the application form.
  • Fix a recent photograph in the space provided. Include 2 additional passport-size photographs along with the application form.

Submit the filled-in application form, self-attested copies of the SSCE passing certificate and Class XII passing certificate/ HSSC examination hall ticket, and two passport-size photographs similar to the one pasted on the application form to the respective address as per the center selected by you. The center details and corresponding address are available in the ‘Other Details’ section below.

GCET 2023 Admit Card

DTE Goa released the admit card for the GCET 2023 exam through the official website. Those candidates, who have registered online for GCET, can download their GCET 2023 hall ticket. GCET admit cards will have all the vital information about candidates, like details of the test venue, timings of the exam, and other important information and instructions related to the test and the candidate. The GCET 2023 admit card will be made available online by the exam authorities.

GCET 2023 Result

The GCET 2023 result was made available on the official website and at DTE Notice Board. Candidates can check the result from these places. On the official website, the result will be available in PDF format. Candidates are required to check their roll number in the list of qualified candidates. The subject-wise score will be mentioned in the list. No individual scorecard will be issued. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the scores obtained by the candidates.

GCET 2023 Counselling

Qualified candidates are required to register for the counselling process. The counselling form has to be filled out offline and submitted at the DTE office in person. On submission of the form, candidates will get an acknowledgment card. Candidates are required to be present at the admission center carrying original documents, acknowledgment cards, and fees. Candidates will be given the choice of selecting the seat as per their merit. After seat allotment, candidates are required to report to the allotted college within 3 working days to confirm admission. Failing to do so will result in the cancellation of admission.
