National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Hosur Road, Bangalore

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences is one of the reputed medical colleges in Karnataka. It is considered as the apex college for mental health and neuroscience education. The foundation of the NIMHANS was laid in 1925. The college is given power by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to function on the autonomous lines.

The NIMHANS is essentially a service and research-oriented government institute. It offers Ph. D, Super specialty, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate courses.

Accreditations

• The NIMHANS has been declared as the Institute of National Importance in 2012.
• It was conferred with the status of a Deemed University in 1994.
• In 2016, the Government of India has passed the resolution to set up NIMHANS like institutions across the nation.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for B. Sc Course

• The candidate should have passed Class 12^th / equivalent in the PCB subjects from a recognized board/ university.
• The candidate should have a minimum aggregate score of 45% marks. The reserved category candidates should have at least 40% aggregate score to become eligible for the admission.
• The candidate should be between 17 to 25 years of age.

Eligibility for MD/ MS Course

• The candidate should have done MBBS from a recognized medical college/institution.
• The candidate should also have completed the minimum internship period of 12 months.
• The student should appear in the NIMHANS PG 2018 exam.

Eligibility for M. Sc Course

• The candidate should have passed MBBS from a recognized board/ university.
• A candidate should have a minimum score of 55% marks.
• The student should appear in the NIMHANS PG 2018 exam.
