About Calicut University
Established in 1968, Calicut University is the largest University in Kerala. It has been affiliated by UGC and is located at Malappuram district of Kerala. The university was created under a Government plan bifurcating Kerala University. Under this plan, four post-graduate departments of the University of Kerala were annexed to the new university along with fifty-four constituent colleges located over seven northern districts. With 480 colleges and 30 postgraduate departments, Calicut University has emerged as the largest residential cum affiliating University in Kerala.
The School of Distance Education is one of the major departments of the Calicut University established in 1981. Not only this department is a leading education provider in Kerala but also in many other parts of India as well as Gulf countries providing admissions to more than 60,000 students annually. At present, they are providing 2 diploma courses, 16 graduate courses, and 13 postgraduate courses. Moreover, the School of Distance Education provides 12 Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Arts, 5 in Commerce, and 3 in Business Administration. The application process for all the courses is same and candidates are offered admission directly to the programs and may also seek spot-admissions.

Application Process For Admission in Various Courses At Calicut University
To get admission in one of the courses offered at Calicut University, candidates can download the admission form from the official website of the university via http://www.universityofcalicut.info/. On the website’s page, click on the relevant link to open the online application form. You will need to fill up the registration form and send it along with below-mentioned documents and prescribed fee to the Director, School of Distance Education within the date prescribed on the admission notification.
For 1st Year BA/ BSc/ BCom/ BBA Degree Courses
- 10 + 2 Marksheet or an equivalent certificate provided from a recognized institution.
- Original chalan receipt for tuition fee, Admission fee.
- Transfer Certificate (original)
- Chalan receipt of matriculation fee towards the cost of application form for matriculation.
NOTE: Candidates who have not passed pre-degree from Calicut University must submit an application for matriculation.
In case of re-matriculation where a student who had once studied in a college under Calicut University looking to take admission again after completing a course from the institutions other than the Calicut University, such candidate will need to submit original Chalan receipt of re-matriculation fee towards the cost of application for re-matriculation.
- Self-attested copy of the first page of SSLC book and 2 copies of the 10 + 2 Marksheet.
- Community/Nativity/Income Certificate (whichever applicable) in case of SC/ST/OBC/OEC students.
- In case a student has mentioned about registration of an incomplete degree course in the TC or QC, he/she must submit a cancellation certificate of that particular registration.
- Five self-addressed stamped envelopes.
BA/BCom (Open Stream)
- Printout/memo of result having passed the entrance examination.
- Date of birth certificate
- In case of candidates from outside Kerala, a chalan receipt or demand draft towards tuition fee must be submitted.
- Three self-addressed stamped cover.
- Income, nativity, and community certificate is a must in case of SC/ST/OEC candidates.
Post Graduate Course
Candidates with required qualifications must complete their registration via online within the date provided in the admission notifications along with the below-mentioned documents (in original).
- A candidate must provide a transfer certificate.
- Provisional certificate or degree certificate of the examination qualified by the candidates.
- Marksheet of the examinations (Part I, II, and III) qualified by the candidates.
- Original chalan receipt (or DD in case the candidate is from outside Kerala).
- Three self-addressed stamped envelopes.
- Original income, community, and nativity certificates are must in case the candidate belongs to SC/ST/OEC/OBC who are eligible for relaxation in marks and fee.
- Self-attested copy of the SSL/SSC page where a candidate’s date of birth is mentioned should be submitted.
- In the case of Teachers, Govt., University, and Employees, a certificate from the authority for relaxation in minimum marks should be obtained.
NOTE: The fee can be paid along with the other fee through a separate link given for spot admission. It will be provided as “SDE SPOT ADMISSION FEE (UG/PG)”.
Reservation
- Students who belong to SC/ST/OEC are entitled to a concession in payment of tuition fees.
NOTE: This condition is only applicable when students are not employed in any Govt. /Quasi Govt. or Public Sector services.
- Also, they should apply for concession in fee with the relevant document in the prescribed application which will be given to the candidates later.
- Blind candidates are also entitled to a concession in fee on providing Medical Certificate.
- There is no concession in fee for OBC candidates.
- On bringing the caste certificate, candidates belonging to OBC/OEC students will be allowed a 5% or 3 GPV relaxation in the marks required for admission.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are required to only pass for getting admission.
