Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the official notification for the 68th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2022. The examination is conducted for recruiting eligible candidates for various posts in departments/ministries under the Bihar government. Also known by other names viz. Bihar Provincial Civil Service (PCS) Exam or Bihar Civil Services Exam, is a highly competitive exam. The examination is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Main, and Interview. BPSC Exam 2022 Pattern & Syllabus
BPSC CCE Exam Pattern
BPSC conducts the Combined Competitive Examination in three phases:
- Preliminary
- Main
- Interview
Preliminary Exam Pattern
The preliminary exam will be conducted in offline (pen and paper) mode. The General Studies paper comprises Objective Type and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of a total of 150 marks. Here are the details of the exam:

The preliminary exam is of qualifying nature. It is mandatory to qualify for the exam by securing the minimum marks set by the Commission. Eligible candidates for the Main exam are selected on the basis of their performance in the Preliminary examination. Marks of the preliminary exam are not considered while preparing the final selection list.

The Main exam consists of 4 papers as follows:

Candidates are required to secure a minimum of 30% marks in Hindi, however, these marks will not be considered while preparing the final merit list.
* For the optional subject, candidates are required to select one subject from the list of available subjects for the Main examination. Here is the list of subjects:

Interview
The list of candidates who qualify for the Main examination is published on the official website. These candidates are called for the interview round. The final merit list is prepared after considering the marks of the main exam and interview round.

Preliminary Exam Syllabus
BPSC CCE Preliminary exam syllabus includes topics from Current Events of National and International importance, General Science, History of India and salient features of the history of Bihar, General geography and geographical division of Bihar and its major river systems, Indian Polity and Economy, Major changes in the economy of Bihar post-independence, Indian National Movement and contribution of Bihar, and questions from General Mental Ability.
Main Exam Syllabus
Hindi – The paper will comprise of questions on essay writing (30 marks), grammar (30 marks), sentence syntax (25 marks), and précis-writing/summary (15 marks). Questions will be of the Secondary Level of Bihar School Examination Board.
General Studies (Paper I) – Current events of national and international importance, the modern history of India and Indian culture, and statistical analysis, graphs & diagrams.
General Studies (Paper-II) – Indian Polity, India Economy and Geography of India, and the role and impact of science and technology in the development of India.
Optional Subject – Candidates have to select one of the optional subjects for this paper. The detailed syllabus for each subject is available on the official website.
BPSC Exam 2022 Eligibility
Before applying for the BPSC Preliminary examination, candidates must check if they fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
Educational Qualification (as of the last date of online submission of the application form)
Candidates should have completed graduation in any discipline or equivalent level of education from a recognized college or university. Candidates are required to fill in the details of their degree while filling out the application form.

BPSC Exam 2022 Application Process
Bihar Public Service Commission releases separate application forms for the Preliminary and Main phases of the Civil Services examination. Candidates who pass the preliminary phase are required to fill out the application form for the Main phase, however; the optional subject for the Main examination has to be selected while filling out the Preliminary form. Candidates are also required to submit the application fee for the Main exam.
For now, here is the process for filling out the BPSC CCE preliminary application form. The registration process has started on 5th March 2022 and continued till 28th March 2022. Only the registered candidates were allowed to complete the application process.
Online Application Process for BPSC CCE Preliminary Exam
Candidates need to make sure that they have a valid and working email ID and mobile number before applying for the exam. Online application submission can be completed in three steps:
- Registration
- Payment
- Filling the Online Application Form
Registration
- Go to the BPSC website for the online application – www.onlinnebpsc.bihar.gov.in
- Click on the ‘ONLINE REGISTRATION’ tab.
- Click on the ‘Apply online’ button in front of the post you want to apply
- Enter the details asked for and check them carefully before hitting the ‘Submit’ button.
- On successful registration, a registration ID and password will be generated.
Payment
- The online payment link will become active on the next day of the registration after 11 AM. Click on the ‘Online Payment’ link to make a fee payment.

Filling the BPSC Exam Online Application Form
- After successful submission of the application fee, the application form link will become active on the next day after 11 AM.
- Click on the ‘Application Form’ button.
- You will see the information you have provided at the time of registration. Fill in the other details to complete the form.
- Upload the scanned images of your photograph, signature (in Hindi and English). The scanned images should be in JPG/JPEG format and should not be more than 15 KB (signature) and 25 kb (photograph) in size.
- Click on the ‘Preview’ button and check all the details carefully. Make changes if required. Please make sure that all the details provided are correct before final submission.
- ‘Submit’ the application form.
- After successful submission, again login to the Dashboard and click on the ‘Download Filled Application’ tab. Please make sure that all the pages of the completed application form have the Registration Number, Bar Code, and Submitted Application Number. If not, the application would not be considered.

BPSC Civil Services Admit Card 2022
The admit cards for the Preliminary phase examination will be made available on the official website. The dates for the release of the Preliminary and Main exam admit cards are not announced yet. Check out the steps to download the BPSC Civil Services Admit Card.
- Visit the Official Website.
- Click on the link for BPSC CCE Preliminary/Main Admit Card 2022.
- You will be redirected to the candidate’s login page. Enter your username/registration ID, password and captcha code. Submit the details.
- The admit card will appear on the screen.
- Check all the details and download your Admit Card
- Take a printout.
Note: Admit Card is a mandatory document for making entry to the examination hall. Candidates are advised to keep their admit cards with great care until the declaration of the result.
BPSC Civil Services Result 2022
BPSC will declare the result for the Preliminary phase and Main phase examinations separately. The preliminary qualified candidates are to appear for the Main examination. Candidates who will clear the Main exam will be called for the interview session. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the Main Examination and the Interview round.
