Serving your country is a matter of pride. And, what could be a better way than joining the Indian Army. For this, aspirants have to appear in the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The exam is conducted twice a year as CDS I and CDS II. CDS I 2022 was conducted in February while CDS II 2022 is scheduled to be held on 4th September 2022 as per the annual calendar 2022 released by UPSC.

The CDS exam is conducted for selection of eligible candidates for courses offered at the following academies:

• Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai

Candidates are selected for both permanent and short-service commission.

Selection Procedure

The selection is done on the basis of a written test conducted by UPSC and Interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). The written test comprises of 100 questions from each of the following sections:

• English
• General Knowledge
• Mathematics

The maximum duration of the exam is two hours per section.
