UGC NET Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme 2022
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the exam dates for the UGC NET 2022 exam June session. A public notice was released on the official website stating the exam dates. The exam will be conducted from 9th to 12th July 2022 and 12th to 14th August 2022. NTA has also introduced a minor change in the pattern of the exam i.e. both papers will be conducted in a single session of three hours. Thus, the 30-minutes break which was provided between the two papers has been removed w.e.f. June 2019 exam. The official notification was released on 30th April 2022;
“The test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will be conducted in a single three-hour duration.”
Another change in the UGC NET exam from the year 2022 was the change in the syllabus. UGC has updated the syllabus for the exam and from the UGC-NET, June, a new syllabus was applicable.

Earlier, the exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) but from December 2018 onwards, the exam is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Here is the detailed information on changes introduced, the latest exam pattern and the marking scheme of the UGC NET 2022 exam.
Changes introduced the UGC NET Exam
Here are some of the changes introduced in the UGC NET exam:
- Paper-III was removed from the exam w.e.f. July 2018 session. Now, there are only two papers in the exam – Paper-I for general aptitude and Paper-II for the subject-related paper.
- The exam was conducted through the computer-based mode for the first time from December 2018 session.
- The exam conducting authority has been changed from the December 2018 session. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the UGC NET exam.
Exam pattern of the UGC NET 2022 Exam
The test will consist of two papers – Teaching Aptitude and Subject-Related paper. Both the papers will have objective type questions. Here is the detailed pattern:

Paper-I comprises questions from teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, general awareness, and reading comprehension.
Paper-II comprises subject-related questions. Candidates have to select the subject for the exam at the time of the application form filling process.
All questions in both papers are compulsory.
Marking Scheme of UGC NET 2022 Exam
The marking scheme of the exam is as follows:
- For each correct answer, 2 marks will be awarded.
- For incorrect answers, no marks will be deducted, i.e., there is no negative marking.
- For unanswered answers, no marks will be awarded or deducted.
If any question is found to be incorrect, the benefit of the marks will be given only to those candidates who have attempted the question.
