NTA UGC NET 2019 - Exam Schedule, Syllabus Download, Admit Card Postponed
The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, also known as UGC NET or NET, is one of the most sought-after entrance examinations in the country that determines the eligibility of the candidates for university and college-level lectureship. The exam is conducted to assess the “eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professional only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges”.
Note: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which was conducting the NET exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission, is no longer bestowed with the responsibility. As of now, the National Testing Agency also known as NTA has taken up the authority to conduct UGC NET Exam 2019 twice in a year- June and December.
As per the officials, NTA is all set to conduct UGC NET 2019 June Exam on June 20th, 21th and June 24th to 28th in two different shifts- Morning and Evening. Applicants can download their respective NET 2019 June Admit Card from May 27th onwards. In order to download the admit card, students have to visit the official portal i.e. ntanet.nic.in to access the document.
This year, the NET will be conducted at 263 exam centres all over India.

NTA UGC NET Eligibility criteria 2019 -
The latest eligibility criteria for UGC NET 2019 exam with regard to age and educational qualification of candidates are mentioned below:
Age Criteria
There is no maximum age limit for candidates taking UGC NET 2019 exam for the post of Assistant Professor.
There is an age limit for candidates going for Junior Research Fellowship. For them, the maximum age limit is 30 years. It is relaxable by five years for female candidates SC/ST/OBC/PWD. Maximum age limit is also relaxable up to five years for candidates with an LLM degree and those with research experience.
Academic Qualification
- Candidates with a master’s degree from any recognised University in Humanities, Electronic Sciences, Social Sciences and computer science and applications are eligible.
- They need to score at least 55% marks in the NET examination. Those belonging to the reserved category need to score at least 50% marks.
- Applicants appearing in their final qualifying examination or those waiting for the results are also fit to apply.
- Candidates with a PhD degree or who have completed Master’s degree either on or before September 1991 can get a 5% relaxation in the total score of their qualifying examination.
- They are required to appear for the subject of their qualifying exam only. Candidates, whose qualifying exam subject remains uncovered in the subject list as specified by UGC, are required to appear in a related subject.
UGC NET Application Form 2019 -
The application form will be made available on the official NTA website from 01st March 2019. The last date for submitting the application form is 30th March 2019. Applicants should use the newest version of web browsers for completion of their application process. Aadhaar number is mandatory for UGC NET 2019 Online Application Form.
Steps To Follow For the application process for NTA UGC NET:
- Candidates need to register themselves at the official website with their names, email IDs and valid mobile numbers.
- After successful registration, their application form number and password will be generated.
- Candidates need to re-login the website and enter their personal details, academic details, contact information, choice of program, work experience details and exam centre.
- Now, they need to upload the scanned images of their recent passport-sized photographs and signature with the following specifications:

UGC NET 2019 Application Fee Structure
- Pay the application fee online through the modes of payment mentioned on the official website. The modes of payment include Debit/Credit cards or Net Banking.
- Get a print of the e-Challan from the website and make payment at any ICICI/Syndicate/Canara bank branches. Having done this, you need to enter the details on the Challan to UGC NET online application form available on the official website for completing the process.

UGC NET 2019 Admit Card
Candidates can download the official admit card from the certified web portal of NTA. UGC NET Admit Card 2019 for June session will be accessible from 27th May 2019. Details, such as candidates names, registration numbers, photographs, dates of birth, exam dates, timings, exam venues, etc. will be printed on the admit card. Admit card along with a valid ID proof need to be produced at the exam centre.
UGC NET 2019 Exam Pattern
- The National Eligibility Test consists of two papers - Paper I and Paper II.
- The Paper I assesses the language skills, general awareness and reasoning ability of candidates, whereas the Paper II consists of questions related to the subjects that the candidates have chosen.
- The total number of questions will be 150 in two sessions (Paper I carries 50 compulsory questions; Paper II carries 100 mandatory questions). Each question carries two marks.
- There is no negative marking in this exam
- Duration of the exam in three sessions is 3 hours

There are 84 subjects for the exam and the syllabus for each subject will be different. Candidates are required to prepare in accordance with the latest syllabus prescribed by the Agency.
