List of Top- Ranked Engineering Colleges in Eastern India, MHRD Releases List 2018

The National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development has released a region-wise list of top-ranked engineering colleges in the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western India. The ranking is done on the basis of the colleges results at the Bachelor’s level, the quality of teaching, learning facilities, research facilities, and perception of the college. The list was released by the HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar.

The ranking is given on the basis of the following parameters:

  • Teaching, Learning, and Resources (30%)
  • Research, Professional Practice & Collaborative Performance (30%)
  • Outreach and Inclusivity (15%)
  • Graduation Outcome (15%)
  • Perception (10%)

In recent years, some of the engineering colleges located in Eastern India have acquired a top-rank position. The IIT Kharagpur ranks 4th; IIT Patna ranks 10th; IIT Guwahati ranks 11th, and BIT Ranchi ranks 16th. Apart from engineering, NIRF the ranking is also available for categories viz. Medical, Management, Architecture, Law, and Pharmacy.  IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, and IIT Delhi made to the first, second, and third positions, respectively.
