The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts a national level exam for filling various vacancies in the Central Police Organizations (CPO) such as Delhi Police, CAPF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, etc. The exam name is SSC CPO exam. It is conducted for posts viz. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and Sub-Inspector. Candidates in Delhi Police at posts Constable, Head Constable, and Assistant Sub-Inspector with a minimum of three years of experience are also eligible to apply for the exam. Latest Update - The SSC CPO official notification 2020 was scheduled to be released on 17th April 2020 as per the SSC Annual Calendar. However, the same has been postponed due to the Coronavirus situation. The new release date for the notification will be announced soon. Keep an eye on the official website for the same.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC CPO Exam 2020
Nationality
The candidate must either be:
- An Indian citizen or
- A subject of Nepal or
- A subject of Bhutan
Candidates belonging to 2 and 3 categories above are required to have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
Age Limit
As on 1st January 2021, the minimum age limit should be 20 years and the maximum age limit should be 25 years. Permissible relaxation in the upper age limit is provided to reserved category candidates as under:

Important Points for Paper-1 and 2
- Both Paper-1 and 2 will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- Part-I, II, and III of Paper-1 will be in both Hindi and English while Part-IV of Paper-1 and Paper-II will be in English only.
- There will be negative marking in both papers. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

PST/ PET will be of qualifying nature. These do not carry any marks.
Medical Examination
The medical examination is conducted by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade I of any Central/ State Government Hospital or Dispensary.
The candidates must be in good mental and physical health. He/ She must be free from any physical defects.
The candidate must not have a flat foot, knock knee, squint in eyes, varicose vein, or high colour vision.
“The minimum near vision should be N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye). The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye) of both eyes without any correction like wearing glasses or surgery of any kind to improve visual acuity. In a right-handed person, the right eye is better-eye and vice versa.”
Syllabus for SSC CPO Exam 2020
The SSC CPO syllabus is prescribed by SSC and can be accessed through the official notification. The syllabus is as under:
Paper-I
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, similarities and differences, spatial orientation, space visualization, decision making, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, visual memory, observation, discrimination, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, coding and decoding, non-verbal series, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.
- General Knowledge and General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Events, India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research etc.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & work, Algebra and Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle, Circle, Quadrilaterals, Trigonometric Ratio, Graphs.
- English Comprehension: Comprehension, Correct Use of English.
Paper-II
- English Language and Comprehension: Grammar, Error recognition, filling in the blanks (using verbs, preposition, articles etc), Spellings, Vocabulary, Sentence Completion, Sentence Structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, Phrases and Idioms, Comprehension, etc.
SSC CPO Application Process
The SSC CPO application forms are accepted only through the online mode. Candidates are advised to submit the same well before the last date. The SSC CPO 2020 notification has been postponed. Steps to apply for the SSC CPO Exam?
The application process can be completed in two stages:
- One-Time Registration
- Filling Online Application Form
One-Time Registration
The one-time registration is for candidates who have never appeared for any SSC exam. If you have appeared for any SSC exam before, you must have the registration ID and password. The same can be used for all the SSC exams. Here are the steps for one-time registration:
- Go to the official website - ssc.nic.in.
- Click on the ‘New User? Register Now?’ link.
- The application form will appear on the screen. Enter details such as Aadhaar number, name, Parents’ name, DoB, Educational details, Gender, Mobile Number, Email ID, Contact details, Photo and Signature details, etc. to complete the form.
- When the registration process is complete, you will receive a registration number and password.
Filling Online Application Form
- Login using the registration number and password.
- The details you have entered at the time of registration will appear automatically.
- Fill details regarding category, examination center choices, etc.
- Go through the complete information and click on the “I Agree” declaration.
- Make the application fee payment.
- When the fee is submitted successfully, take a print of the application form.
Application Fee
The application fee for the SSC CPO exam can be paid through Net Banking, BHIM UPI, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, or in cash at any SBI branch. The application fee details are as under:

SSC CPO Admit Cards
The SSC CPO admit cards will be released 3 to 7 days before the exam. Candidates can download the same from the respective regional/ sub-regional office. The admit card can be downloaded using the registration ID and password. It is mandatory to carry the admit card along with two passport size coloured photographs and an original photo ID-proof.
SSC CPO Result
The SSC CPO results for both the papers are released separately. The result is made available at the official website. Candidates can access the same using their registration ID and password. The final result will be declared after all the stages are over. Document Verification will be conducted for finally selected candidates.
