Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination for recruiting candidates at Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ posts in different Organizations/ Departments/ Ministries. Some of the posts are Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector, Tax Assistant, Accountant, etc. The SSC CGL exam is conducted in four tiers - first two tiers are conducted through online mode and the last two tiers are conducted through offline. SSC CGL 2019 Eligibility
- Age Limit
The age limit for the exam varies as per the posts. The age limit is different for all the posts. It varies from 18 years to 32 years. Check out the official notification for post wise age limit details. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided to the reserved category candidates.
- Educational Qualification
Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer
Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University.
Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Commerce or Masters in Business Economics or Masters in Business Administration (Finance).
Junior Statistical Officer
Bachelor’s degree (any subject) from a recognised University with minimum 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II
Bachelor’s degree (any subject) with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognised University.
- All Other Posts
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised University.
SSC CGL 2019 - Application Process
The SSC CGL 2019 application process can be filled only through online mode. The application process started on 22nd October 2019 and continued till 25th November 2019. Candidates must submit the applications well before the last date. The steps for filling the application form are as under:
Steps to Fill the Application Form
- Go to the official website of SSC - https://ssc.nic.in.
- Candidates who are new at the SSC exams are required to complete the one-time registration process. Those who already have registration ID and password are just required to log-in and complete the CGL application form.
- Log-in and click the CGL link to access the application form.
- Enter the required details such as categories, exam centers, etc.
- After filling all the details, make the fee payment.
- After the fee payment is successful, print the application form.

The SSC CGL exam is conducted in four tiers:
Tier-I: Computer Based Examination
Tier-II: Computer Based Examination
Tier-III: Pen-and-Paper Mode (Descriptive)

Both Tier-I and Tier-II will consist of Objective Type Questions. The question paper will be in both English and Hindi except for the English comprehension part.
Negative Marking - Tier-I will have a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer and Tier-II will have a negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper-I, Paper-III, and Paper-IV.
Pattern of Tier-III
The Tier-III examination will be conducted in Pen-and-Paper mode. The details of the paper are:

The paper must be answered either in Hindi and English.
Pattern of Tier-IV (Skill Test)
Computer Proficiency Test and Data Entry Skill Test will be conducted in Tier-IV.
SSC CGL 2019 Syllabus
The Syllabus of the SSC CGL 2019 exam for all the Tiers is prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission. Candidates can download the syllabus only from the official notification. The syllabus is as under:
Tier-I
General Intelligence & Reasoning - Coding-Decoding, Semantic Analogy, Number Classification, Word Building, Number Series, Venn Diagrams, Social Intelligence.
General Awareness - Questions related to India and its neighbouring countries pertaining to History, Geography, Culture, General Policy, Economic Scene, Scientific Research.
Quantitative Aptitude - Numbers, Percentage, Average, Interest, Discount, Profit and Loss, Circles, Triangles, Histogram, Bar and Pie Chart.
English Comprehension - Read the comprehension and the questions followed.
Tier-II
Quantitative Abilities - Whole numbers, Ratio, Profit and Loss, Triangle, Circles, Basic Algebraic Identities, Time and Distance, Circle and its Chords, Bar & Pie chart.
English Language and Comprehension - Comprehension, Synonyms, Antonyms, One Word Substitution, Cloze Test, Spot the Error.
Statistics - Presentation of Statistical Data, Measures of Central Tendency, Measure of Dispersion, Sampling Theory, Time Series Analysis, Index Numbers.
General Studies (Finance and Economics)
Finance - Financial accounting and Basic Concepts of Accounting
Economics - Finance Commission - Role and Functions, Theory of Demand and Supply, Indian Economy, Economic Reforms in India, Money and Banking.
SSC CGL 2019 Admit Card
The SSC CGL admit cards are released separately for all the tiers. The admit cards are generally released one week before the exam. Candidates can download the admit cards from the respective regional websites. The admit cards can be downloaded using the registration number and password. It is mandatory to carry the admit card to the examination center along with photo ID proof.
SSC CGL 2019 Result
The Tier-I result for the SSC CGL exam has been postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak. The result will be released on the official website in PDF format. Candidates can check their roll number in the list of qualified candidates. The Tier-I exam was conducted from 3rd to 9th March 2020. The result for each Tier will be released separately. After the result of all the Tiers, the final list of qualified candidates will be released.
