JEE Main 2021 Seat Allotment Schedule & Counselling Process
Joint Entrance Examination is an all India common entrance test conducted to facilitate admissions in the top-notch engineering schools and colleges across the country. Formerly the exam was organized under the umbrella of CBSE and UGC but now National Testing Agency (NTA) holds the command to schedule the test. The exam is primarily performed in two phases i.e. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Talking about the JEE Main 2021 Seat Allotment process it will initiate after the declaration of JEE Main 2021 result. NTA will hand over the results statistics to the Seat Allocation Board for holding seat allocation and admission procedure.
According to official updates, the JEE Main 2021 counselling process will be started in June 2021 through online mode. Candidates securing qualifying marks in JEE Main will be eligible to partake in the counselling procedure.

- The JEE Main seat allotment process offer admission to UG engineering & architecture courses at institutes such as IIITs, NITs and other prominent colleges in the country.
- The JEE Main Counselling 2021 will be administrated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

JEE Main 2021 Seat Allotment Process
Eligibility Pattern for Paper 1 (B. Tech)
- Candidates need to secure above the cut-off score in JEE Main 2021 Paper-I to participate in the JEE Main Seat Allotment Process.
- Qualify their 12th Board in Science stream with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
- For admissions into IIITs, NITs and other premium colleges, General category holders need to score 75% marks and 65% for Other Reserved candidates.
Eligibility Pattern for Paper 2 (B. Arch)
- Students should have qualified successfully for the JEE Main 2021 Paper-II conducted for B. Arch apprentices.
- Conclude class 12th with Mathematics as the mainstream.
- General students need to achieve 75% in the JEE Main exam, whereas 65% for Other Reserved candidates.

JEE Main Seat Allotment Process 2021
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct JEE Main 2021 Counselling round by June 2021. Qualifiers of JEE Main needs to register themselves first and select their preferences through online mode. Seats will be allocated based on the factors include the availability of seats, candidate’s rank, category, etc. After the allocation of desirable JEE Main seat to the test-takers, they will need to report to their allotted colleges for documentation and fee payment procedure. Here we provide you with the complete steps involved to participate in JEE Main Counseling 2021 and Seat Allotment Procedure:
The complete steps are divided into five different parts-
Step 1: Online Registration
The seat allotment session for JEE Main 2021 will be done through the JoSAA Counselling process-
- Visit the official JoSAA website and enter JEE Main 2021 Roll Number and Password to Log-in.
- Read all the informative instructions and tap on ‘I Agree’ button.
- On the next screen, the JoSAA counselling form will appear on your screen, where you need to fill in the required details without making any error.
- After this, click on the Submit button and cross-check all the details before the final submission.
- Now, click on the ‘Confirm Registration’ button and submit it.
Step 2: Online Choice Filling and Locking Method
- Now select your preferences of colleges and programs you want to pursue.
- In the next step, lock your choices before the commencement of the final date.
Note: Candidates must note that the choice locking process can be done after each and every JEE Main 2021 Counselling round.
Step 3: JoSAA 2021 Seat Allotment Process
In this step, students will be allotted seats in their preferred colleges and get a call for document verification round and reporting.
- JEE Main Seat Allotment will be completed on the basis of the merit list and reservation norms of the institute.
- Counselling will be pursued in multiple rounds where students with allotted colleges need to visit the centre within the time duration and complete the process of documentation to reserve a seat.
- As per the filled choices, students will receive allotted seats with an online copy of the “Provisional Seat Allocation Letter” and e-challan for seat acceptance.
- After the seat will be allocated to the fellow candidate, he/she can choose freeze or slide options for succeeding rounds.
Step 4: Seat Acceptance & Payment of Fee
- The seat acceptance fee for reserved candidates will be ₹ 20,000 and ₹ 45,000 for General category students.
- Candidates need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for the JEE Main seats online (Net Banking) or offline (e-Challan).
Step 5: Documentation Round at the Reported Centre
After the process of fee payment, one should have to appear with the essential documents at the reporting exam centre for verification. A list of all important documents are as follows:
- Three passport size photographs (same as uploaded in the JEE Main application)
- 12th class performance check
- Provisional seat allotment letter
- Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
- Undertaking by the candidate
- JEE Main 2021 admit card
- Photo ID card (issued by govt./last attended school/12th class admit card)
- 12th class mark sheet & passing certificate (if available)
- JEE Main 2021 scorecard
- Medical certificate
- Date of birth proof (10th class mark sheet)
- OCI certificate or PIO card
- Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
JEE Main 2021 Spot Counselling
JEE Main Spot Counselling 2021 will be held after the completion of the JoSAA Counselling and Seat Allotment Process.
- If in case the seats will still remain, after the usual JoSAA counselling rounds, then the conductive authority of JoSAA will perform its Spot Counselling round for the allocation of such seats.
- Students who have not been allotted any seat during the counselling session can appear for the spot counselling one.
- It is mandatory for the candidates to register their entries through online mode for the Spot Counseling round.
