JEE Main is a national level computer-based online test conducted under the observation of the National Testing Agency for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in top engineering institutes in India. It is the first phase of the IIT Joint Entrance Exam. Earlier, the JEE Main examination is conducted in two sessions and candidates can take the exam either in the month of January or in April. However, with the latest announcement made by the education ministry of India, JEE Main 2021 will be held in four sessions i.e. February, March, April, and May. The candidates can further opt to appear for one exam or appear in all the exam sessions.

More significantly, students are granted admission to IITs, CFITs, NITs, and other Government funded technical institutes based on the marks obtained in JEE Main. Also, the top 2.5 lakh score holders from JEE Main will qualify to appear for JEE Advanced.

What is JEE Main?

Joint Entrance Examination - Main or commonly known as JEE Main is an engineering level entrance exam conducted by the NTA to offer admission to BE/BTech, BPlan and BArch courses at the IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology) and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) across the country. From 2021, JEE Main will be held four times. The candidate’s best of the 2021 NTA scores will be considered for preparation of merit list/ranking

The counselling cum seat allotment for all the IITs, NITs, IIITs and CFTIs will be organised and managed by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). In 2020, 107 institutes participated in JoSAA Counselling.

JEE Main 2021 Latest News (Announcements) –

  • JEE Main 2021 April & May Session application process has been started on 25th March 2021. Application form available online on the NTA website.
  • JEE Main March Session 2021 Result has been announced on 25th March 2021. Aspirants can check their result on the official NTA website.
  • JEE Main March 2021 final answer key is released. Candidates who have appeared for the exam can check the same at the official website.
  • JEE Main 2021 registration process started on 16th December 2020 and closed on 16th January 2021.
  • As per the released JEE Main 2021 schedule, the February and March sessions exam were conducted from February 23-26, 2021 (Session 1) and 16-18 March 2021 (Session 2). The April session exam is to be held from 27-30 April (Session 3) and the May session exam will be held from 24-28 May 2021 (Session 4).
  • JEE Main 2021 for the first time is being conducted in 13 regional languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. It will help candidates from all over the country to appear for the exam.
  • The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2021 contains 90 questions - 30 in each section of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. This step has been taken keeping in mind the syllabus reduced by different boards across the country.

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2021

NTA has released the JEE Main 2021 eligibility criteria for BTech, BArch and BPlan papers. Candidates must fulfil all the eligibility conditions to be eligible for JEE Main exam. The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2021 is as follows:

Age Criteria: There is no age limit for aspirants appearing in the JEE Main 2021.

Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination (QE):

  • Candidates who have passed their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 or 2020 are eligible.
  • Those who are appearing in their Class 12 examination or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2021 are also eligible to appear.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)–2021.

Qualifying subjects: Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th /qualifying examination to be eligible.

Qualifying marks:

  • To appear in JEE Mains, the minimum qualifying marks (for admission to NITs, IIITs, IITs, and CFTIs) that aspirants require is 75 per cent (aggregate) or
  • Candidates should be in the top 20 percentile in the Class 12 exam conducted by respective Boards.
  • For reserved candidates, the minimum qualifying marks is 65 per cent.

Total number of attempts:

  • A candidate is allowed to attempt the exam for three consecutive years.
  • The number of attempts will be four in total a year from 2021.

JEE Main 2021 Application Form – (April Registration Started)

The application form of JEE Main 2021 for the February/March/April/May session has been released in online mode. Candidates will be able to fill and submit their JEE Main 2021 application form for papers 1 (BE/BTech), paper 2 (BArch and BPlan). As per the details provided, the registration process for JEE Main 2021 (April & May Session) has started on 25th March 2021. The last date to fill and submit the JEE Main 2021 application form is 31st March 2021. However, the payment of application fees can be done in online mode until 05th April 2021. The correction window will open starting 09th April 2021 and will remain open till 12th April 2021.

How to fill JEE Main Application Form 2021? Step-by-step Guide

Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Visit the official website (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and register for the online form. Make a note of the application number. It will be required to generate the password and for future correspondence.

Step 2: Log in to the portal using the application number and password and access the application form.

Step 3: Start filling in the form and type in all the required details.

Step 4: Upload the scanned copy of the documents containing the signature and also photographs.

Step 5: Payment of JEE Main Exam Fees – online or offline payment.

  • Offline Payment: Download the e-challan and transfer the fee amount at any branch of ICICI Bank, Syndicate Bank, or Canara Bank.
  • Online Payment: Using Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, SBI Buddy Wallet, PAYTM, UPI, and Cash Cards.

Step 6: Take a print out of the acknowledgement or confirmation page.

Things You Should Keep Ready Before Filling The Form

Before filling of the online application form candidates should keep the following things ready.

  • PC with a good internet connection.
  • Details of qualification.
  • Scanned copy of passport photograph. It has to be clear, in JPG/JPEG format and the image size has to be between 10 kb–200 kb.
  • Digital copy of the candidate’s signature in JPG/JPEG format with the image size between 4 kb–30 kb.
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) and the file size: 50kb to 300KB).
  • PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb) in jpg/jpeg format.
  • Working e-mail id.
  • Valid mobile number.
  • A printer to print the confirmation page.

NTA will also provide a one-time correction facility to make all the required changes in the form. For the new session, the correction window will be opened on certain dates which will be announced by the exam authority. Additional fees have to be paid.

Note: As per the official notification, no correction will be allowed after the submission of the final application. Moreover, candidates have to know that no change will be accepted even if they send a request by post, fax, email, or by hand.

JEE Main 2021 Application Form Correction Window

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will activate the correction window. During this period candidates can edit/change/update their particulars in JEE Main 2021 application form. Candidates have to enter their application number and password on the JEE Main login window. Below are some of the details that the candidates must keep in mind before editing their application form.

JEE Main April application form correction: How to make edits?

  • Visit the official website of JEE Main 2021 and go to the application correction window tab.
  • Now, fill in your Application Number, Password, Security Pin (displayed on the screen)
  • Click the ‘Login’ button and then tap on the button, which says ‘Manage Form Particulars Correction’ to edit and make changes.
  • Read the instructions carefully and edit the information and make all the required changes.
  • Pay an additional fee if required via online mode.

JEE Main Admit Card 2021

The admit card of JEE Main 2021 will be made available in the second week of February 2021 (February session). Students will be able to download the hall ticket by entering their login details. Also an intimation of admit card will be sent to the candidates on their registered mail id/ phone number.

Students must note that no slot booking will take place to allot exam centres, exam time, date and exam shift. NTA will randomly allot these to the candidates. These details will be visible to the students when the admit card will be downloaded. For the April session admit card, students will be able to download it online from the website in the third week of March 2021. Candidates must go through the complete details mentioned in the admit card. In case of correction in any detail in the admit card, contact the officials immediately before the exam date.

JEE Main Answer Key 2021

NTA will publish the JEE Main 2021 Answer key (provisional) after the completion of the entrance exam. The answer key will be published in PDF format online. The provisional answer key will get released in the last week of February 2021. After the release of the answer key, candidates will also be able to make challenges against it in case of any error. Students will be required to pay a certain amount of fee and submit proof for making challenges.

After the challenge will be considered correct by the authority, the final answer key will be published.

JEE Main Result 2021

JEE Main Result will be declared online on the website in the last week of February 2021 (February session). Students will be able to know the results by entering their date of birth & roll number. The April session result will be announced in the last week of April 2021.

The scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw marks obtained by the student in the entrance test.

JEE Main Scorecard

The Scorecard of JEE Main 2021 will be made available online for download after the declaration of the result. The scorecard is a necessary document that will display the performance of the candidate in the JEE Main exam.

Also, other details like the candidate’s name, roll number, category, parent’s name, state code of eligibility, All India Rank, marks obtained, category wise rank, qualifying status etc.

No other mode will be entertained to get the scorecard. Students have to get it through online mode.

JEE Mains 2021 Rank List

After the JEE Main results will be declared by NTA, the rank list will be published online. The rank list published online will mention the candidate’s – All India Rank and Category rank. Students will be allotted ranks based on the marks secured by the students in the JEE Mains entrance exam.

A separate rank list may be prepared by the states to admit candidates in the engineering institutions affiliated with State universities.

JEE Main Counselling 2021

JEE Main 2021 Counselling will be organized by JoSAA from the second week of June 2021. The counselling process through CSAB will get started from the fourth week of July 2021. Students will have to register, make counselling fee payment & choice filling. Only the students who will secure the cut off marks and get shortlisted in the rank list will be only eligible for a counselling session. An online centralized process will be organized for counselling. Seat allotment status will be displayed online and can be checked by the students through their login.
