IGNOU Introduced PG Diploma in Environment and Occupational Health – Find Details Here

The School of Inter-Disciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies (SOITS), IGNOU has introduced a new course – Post Graduate Diploma in Environment and Occupational Health programme. The programme will focus on assessing the public health risks associated with biological, physical, chemical, biomechanical and psycho-social hazards in natural and built environments.

IGNOU Course Details

Eligibility for the course: Candidates with 10+2 (Science background) and graduation (any discipline) are eligible for the course.

Registration Fee: ₹ 6,600

The medium of Instruction: English

Minimum Course Time: 1 year

Maximum Course Time: 3 years

Course Content: The course will cover various concepts such as the general environment, epidemiology, environment at the workplace, health policy and management, related hazards and evaluation of health risk assessment by providing solutions to various aspects of environmental health occupational hazard management, and environmental health promotion.

As per the Ministry of Environment and Forests, in case the number of employees in any hazardous process unit exceeds 200, the environmental and occupational health centres are mandatory and full time environmental and occupational health specialists are required.

As per secondary statistics, there is an urgent need for skilled professionals in the field. An environmental health specialist studies the effect of environmental pollution on human health.
