The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted for engineering and technology graduates interested in pursuing post-graduate courses such as M.Tech., M.E., Ph.D. The exam is conducted by IISc (Indian Institute of Science) and IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) on behalf of the National Coordination Board. The Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also considers GATE’s score for recruiting graduates at various posts.
GATE is considered one of the toughest exams by engineering graduates. The online application process for the GATE 2022 Entrance Exam has begun and the last date for applying was 30th September 2021. Students can apply through the online GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal. The main exam is scheduled for 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th February 2022.

More than 500 institutes including IISc, IITs and NITs consider GATE scores for admission. Few non-Indian universities also take GATE scores into consideration for admission to their Master and PhD courses. These institutes include; Nanyang Technological University Singapore, National University of Singapore and a few technical universities in Germany.
The result of the GATE 2022 entrance exam is scheduled to be announced on 17 March 2022. GATE score remains valid for 3 years.
