GATE 2019 Syllabus for Electronics & Communication Engineering
It is very important for students of electronics and communication engineering to become familiar with the syllabus of their subject before they appear at the Gate 2019 exam. Indubitably, the syllabus is vast and candidates need to work very hard to crack the exam. For their ready reference, the syllabus is mentioned below:

Electrostatics; Maxwell’s equations: differential and integral forms and their interpretation, boundary conditions, wave equation, Poynting vector; Plane waves and properties: reflection and refraction, polarization, phase and group velocity, propagation through various media, skin depth; Transmission lines: equations, characteristic impedance, impedance matching, impedance transformation etc. |

The GATE ECE exam pattern
Prior to preparation, candidates need to go through the exam pattern of GATE ECE 2019. The exam pattern is mentioned below:
- There will be 65 questions in an online mode.
- The duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
- There will be both MCQ's (Multiple Choice Questions) and NAT's (Numerical Answer Types).
- There will be negative marking in multiple-choice questions but there will be no negative marking for Numerical answer types.
There are some reference books for the preparation GATE ECE 2019. If candidates go through them, they can expect to ace their exam. These books are tabulated below:
